Smithfield Market

Meat has been bought and sold at Smithfield for over 800 years, making it one of the oldest markets in London and a livestock market has occupied the site as early as the 10th century. The market has recently undergone a £70 million refurbishment to equip it for the future and the ancient meat market has been transformed into the most modern in Europe, possibly even the world.

St Bartholomew the Great

St Bartholomew's is London's oldest church and dates back to the 12th century. Between the 16th and 19th centuries the building was not used as a place of worship but was instead transformed into lodgings, a printing house and stables. It was restored to it's former glory nearly 200 years ago and is a prime example of Norman architecture in London.
