Central Line
The Central line is a London Underground line, coloured red on the tube map. It is a deep-level “tube” line, running east-west across London, and, at 76 km (47 mi), has the greatest total length of track of any line on the Underground. Of the 49 stations served, 20 are below ground. Overall, it is considered the ‘Deep Level’ line with the fastest point-to-point speeds on the London Underground network, reaching a maximum of 62 mph (100 km/h) once the 1992 Stock was introduced. It is also the second busiest line on the Underground after the Northern line.
